Thailand Tours

After spending 1.5 days lounging around the resort, enjoying the pool, beach and great food, we ventured out on a few tours. Lisa took a Thai Cooking Class offered at our resort. She learned how to prepare 3 dishes that I hope to try soon.

Adam went on a snorkeling trip that had 3 main stops. The waves were very choppy (which is why Lisa took the cooking class instead) but the snorkeling was great. I saw tons of cool fish, coral, and sea anemones. Our first stop was Monkey Island:

The second stop was the beach where they filmed the movie "The Beach." Leonardo was not there the day I visited, but I did get to snorkel and enjoy the surroundings.

The next day Lisa and I both went on a cultural / shopping trip. We stopped at Patong Beach which is home to a lot of markets. We got a lot of great buys and really enjoyed talking to the shop owners and haggling for the best possible price. Here are a few photos of Lisa at the market and of Adam taking a break from the heat:

If you ever happen to talk to this bartender, just know that I let her win those first two games of "Connect 4" - sneaky move Supattra!

Our next stop was a temple - there are 29 of them in Phuket - for some more photos:

After the temple, we went to a Batik factory (they die cloth for clothing, art, etc.) and then to a cashew factory. They gave us a quick tour and let us try all kinds of cashews and other products. Our favorites were the sesame/honey cashew and the cashew apple juice. Here is a picture of Lisa outside of the factory and then a video of the factory / store:

Our final stop was the "World's Largest Jewelry" store where we had a lot of fun browsing.

Looks like you had a delightful visit to Thailand! It's great that you are getting the opportunity to see so much while you are there. Adam, Emily will challenge you to a game of Connect Four the next time you visit.
